It is one of the most famous churches in the whole Roman Catholic world. This formidable building was erected in the 16th-century and houses the tomb and remains of St Francis Xavier, aka Apostle of the Indies. The remains are treasured in a glittering silver coffer. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Monument.
