The preserves of the 5000-years-old settlement: Skara Brae Prehistoric Village is the preserved neolithic settlement and provides a remarkable spectacle of life some 5000 years ago. A replica house offers an incredible display of the artefacts discovered during excavations. Good Experience : Remarkably well preserved. Our guide was both informative and funny. There are no bones inside, and you are not allowed to take pictures inside. If you are claustrophobic you might not want to go in. To enter you have to bend over at a 90 degree angle and walk 20 feet with little space on both your right and left.

Worth A Visit : A surprise in the Kirkwall. It is the size and beauty of the building that grabs your attention immediately. On walking in, the interiors are that of a protestant church – plain and simple but with the beauty coming from the architecture, stain glass windows and simple but practical furnishings.

Confusing Place: Not welcoming despite the Welcome to Mine Howe sign! Portakabon closed and involved climbing a gate but definitely worth a visit if you have torch. Descending the 29 steps was fascinating as the chamber had been carefully constructed. Overall, good experience

Kirbuster Farm Full review
avatarpicture alexalittl THE BEST REVIEW
Fascinating Farm House Museum: The museum offers a fascinating insight into the city's traditional farm in the 19th and early 20th-century. It is considered to be the "last un-restored example of a traditional firehose in Northern Europe". The farmhouse is surrounded by an astonishing stone structure containing farm equipment and other memorabilia.

Amazing Place : The Viking settlement was the highlight. A "Private Property" sign on the way to the lighthouse made it confusing on if we could enter or not. Was a very windy day so unfortunately felt a little dangerous if we went to close to the edge, otherwise good views and would recommend.

Worth A Visit : I stayed right next door and had the best week of my life. Would highly recommend taking pictures when the sun is setting instead of during the day. Also, make sure to find the sheep that likes being pet. I missed out of petting it and am now highly disappointed.

Memorable Place : We didn't expect to see nesting birds/puffins, but this needs to be made clear in advertising as to which dates they may be seen. Excellent leadership from Karen McGuinness, who adjusted the programme to meet the very poor weather conditions(rain and gales) Hotels very good indeed.
