Magnificent gardens and Imposing Church: A perfect spot for a family day out with amazing kids outdoor play facility. Don't worry, there is so much for adults too! The wonderful gardens, waterfalls, and wooded trails with squirrels scurrying around give this church and its surroundings a magical vibe. The castle has a rich collection of paintings and beautiful furniture. Indeed, a fascinating place to spend a lovely weekend.

Overall a great tour exploring the ruins: This spectacular monument was a Cistercian monastery. This was a beautiful peaceful place and was well worth the visit. The ruins are located in the local park and are located next to the graveyard. It is one of the popular tourist attractions but was not too crowded when we visited.

A whisky tour and tasting experience: We chose the regular tour that was informative of how great whiskies are made and enjoyed the tasting tour along the way too. I would highly recommend this tour and is a must visit if you are in town for all whiskey lovers. The tour took us through the history of preparing whisky and the process too. A beautiful spot with history: We took a pleasant and scenic drive to the 1300+ years old cross. Once we reached the spot, the view was even more stunning and the landscape was so perfectly laid out by nature. There were playful deer, sheep and cattle around grazing in the greenery. The church walls, the graveyard walls all add to the glory of the location.

A highly recommended whisky tour: Distillery visit is for all those who are fascinated by the whole process of making whisky and tasting on the way. We loved our tour and the tasting experience here. The guide was great, she was friendly and informative, which made the whole trip more fun! If you don't opt for the tour, you can still lunch out at a restaurant nearby and take a walk with the view of the distillery.

The Museum of Islay Life Full review
avatarpicture ashleeharber THE BEST REVIEW
Can't Ask For More : Fascinating place to visit. We made a trip to Islay to see the handmade Stars and Stripes made by the local ladies for the American Soldiers lost in the seas around the Island in World War One. The flag has to return to America at the end of the Summer so well worth seeing it while it's here.

Worth A Walk : Surprising enough that the marks have survived the centuries - and exciting to see them after all this time. The view from the place is also nice and one may try to imagine how the people felt in this landscape. The rocks with the markings are easily accessible from both ends - the upper one for wheelchair access.

Historic Castle, and the stunning and scenic surroundings.: Shrouded in history and soaked in grandeur, Castles always makes a visitor think about the magnificent -and perhaps tumultuous- past the castles must have stood witness to. Inveraray Castle stands tall among some of the most majestic castles in Europe. Its interior is as fascinating as its exterior. It is a must-visit for history buffs and art-admirers.
