A Must Visit : A must visit if you are in Northumberland, surely one of the most dramatic and beautiful castles in the UK. It's managed by English Heritage so there's an entrance fee if you are not a EH member but it's not to expensive if you aren't. Whatever, it's definitely worth a visit.

Just Outstanding : I would not call this a castle, more like a ruin, still beautiful views, just be warned that it's not always accessible if your hard of walking or have a wheelchair, not that we as a family could see, we cut through a beautiful garden and down lots and lots of stairs.

Interesting Highlight of the Rome's Military legacy: The Museum is a remarkable treat to Rome's extraordinary military might. The 3D film offers an interesting insight into the life of a Roman soldier from recruitment till the end. The exhibits are quite interesting and informative and the staff is really welcoming.

Sewingshields Wall - Hadrian's Wall Full review
avatarpicture sandrotrip THE BEST REVIEW
One of Britain's finest landmarks: All that remains today is the remains of the castle. The remains are hauntingly beautiful and reminiscent of the grandeur that once breathed here. Hadrian's Wall, now a World Heritage site, was once the north-west frontier of the Roman Empire. The museum along the well recounts the epic history of the Roman rise and fall.

A Lovely Place : Easy pay parking (but don’t forget to use your second ticket for a refund if you actually go in the castle). Really very friendly reception and cash desk staff (who also offered us tasters if home made chutneys and hot ginger wine, though I suspect this doesn’t happen every day), and an excellent audio handset tour at no extra cost to the admission price.
