Great Place : Walking around the city of Messina without map, we stumbled upon this different-looking building so we went down to see what it had to offer us. It IS a church!!! Nice Place : Family collection which was given to the city in the 1800's. Has an intesting mix of art works, coins, shells and objects of historical interest. My favorite is Antonella di Messina's enigmatic painting of an unknown man - said to be a male version of a Mona Lisa.

Very Nice : Very nice place offering communing with antiquity. The walk along the archaeological area with excavations should be ended in the small museum with very interesting exhibits. The whole park is large and could be ta I get in hot weather, but worth it for the museum alone.

Gem Of A Place : A fundamental museum to start discovering the Calatino territory. We have visited rooms rich in vases, majolica, ceramic floors and handicrafts of considerable artistic value and of historical importance. Some wings were not accessible but it was still a very interesting visit for my little girl who judged it "superbello".
